You only have five (5) tries to unlock the phone:

Do not attempt to enter the code more than five (5) times total.

If this process is unsuccessful five times in a row, the phone will be permanently locked to the AT&T network. (so, please use caution)

You can get the unlock code from AT&T, by calling their technical support at 1-877-834-3318 (for USA). You will need to give them the IMEI number of the phone when you call. You can find the IMEI number inside the phone (usually) by removing the battery.

Step 1

Power off device and remove AT&T SIM card.

Step 2

Insert SIM card from another wireless carrier.

Step 3

Power on the handset.

Step 4

Allow phone to fully power up.

Step 5

Enter unlock code when prompted.

Step 6

Press OK.

Step 7

When complete, the handset is successfully unlocked.
